Halloweens over, time for Thanksgiving then Christmas!

Wow, time is flying. I haven't been good about writing in here....but that is kind of how I am. I seem to put things off, big or small. Not sure why but I am pretty sure at my age this will not change. I am getting ready to move to another town, packing up the house that we have lived in for 10 years. Very hard, we have lived in this area for 15 years and I will miss terribly this town and all of our friends here. We can come back to visit but it won't be the same. However, it is time to move on. I am glad I will be closer to all my family, that is so important. I will need to make new friends and coworkers. That will be very hard, living in this area so long I know so many people and I really like that. But, I had to start all over 15 years ago when we moved here so it will all work out.
I have been unemployed for going on 7 months. Very weird feeling. I have always worked, except when Katie was born 20 years ago I stayed home with her for a year. That is still working, just not outside the home. I can't say that the break hasn't been nice, but very stressful and being rejected for jobs is very hard. And of course it is hard financially as well. Our house has not sold so far and that is a sign of the state of the economy currently. I know things are going to turn around soon.
I better sign off and get back to packing....more soon!

2nd day of Blog...

Ok, so here is my second entry :-) Today was fairly uneventful...drove an hour to a doctors office to get a CPAP machine. I have been diagnosed with mild to moderate Sleep Apnea. The good news is the tech that reviewed my results feels it is a mild case and if I can lose some weight (which is one of my many 'personal goals') then I can probably get along eventually without the sleep machine. Kaiser did not warn me though that I had to buy the machine and that came to almost $250.00. For someone who is unemployed that was a hard pill to swallow. However, I need to do this for my help and to get good solid sleep.

I am working on several lists: 1. What I want in a job 2. What I want in a relationship 3. Personal goals.

Nothing new on the house sale, apparently this is going to be a long haul to sell it.
Nothing new on the job hunt, I am looking everyday but there is just so little out there. It's fairly scary, I am hopeful the economy will be turning around soon.

I am enjoying my new Wii. Tennis right now is my favorite! The dogs have no idea yet what I am doing swinging the controller around and talking to the t.v. I am guessing they will get used to it.

Another thing I am hoping to do while I am unemployed is some exploring. I would like to find new places, small towns and things I have not yet experienced. I will write about my travels on this blog. I am very interested in finding good, inexpensive places to eat. So many people are struggling financially, the more information the better to pass around about good deals.

I have found myself on the laptop a lot since I have so much free time. Not sure if that is good or bad. But I look at it as a good thing because I am learning a lot, information and also computer operation stuff. The Internet is such a wealth of information and I love it!

Ok, that's all for this entry. More soon!

Starting this blogging stuff....

So, today is the first day of my blog. I like to write short blurbs of things so this should be a good fit. A little about me....I was laid off from my job May 2, 2009 due to county wide budget cuts. This is really the first time I have been laid off like this and the first time I have been out of work for a very long time. I have realized that I was very stressed out at my old job...I worked in the criminal justice system monitoring people out on bail. High stress. I have a Bachelors Degree in Human Development and have worked in social work and law enforcement for the last 15 years since obtaining my degree. I have begun contemplating what I want to do when I grow up. I have decided to sell my house and relocate closer to family, but the house market is horrible right now. Hmmm, I will also add that I am 41 years old.
Big changes have occurred in our home in the last few years. I am a single mother and my daughter Katie just finished her freshman year at college so last year I became a "empty nester". I have 2 dogs, a 10 year old purebred German Shepherd and a little black Pomeranian. There is about 85 pounds difference between them but they are best buds :-)
Something that is unique about me is that I am a twin, I have a identical twin sister named Carrie. She is my best friend. Being a twin is a very special thing. More about that later I am sure. Basically she is the person that knows the most about me and we are very much alike so we get along well. I also have an older sister named Kristin who I think got all of the skills in creativity that I missed out on from our mother: baking, sewing, crafts, writing...the list goes on and on. I have a total of 2 nieces and 2 nephews between my two sisters. I have a great family and feel very blessed.
Lets see, this is probably enough to start off with. I hope to blog about my journey as an unemployed individual and all that goes with the job hunt and reinventing myself and my life.
More soon!
